It’s often difficult to chase a lose hand in order to perform a wrist lock, however, when your assailants hands are given to you in the form of a grab, whether it be to your clothing, wrists, throat etc, a wrist lock from a grab is much more practical.

The outer wrist lock is a good set up for many techniques, including take-downs, strikes and restraints.

A joint I know lock like this involves taking a joint to the extent of it’s intended range of motion, beyond which dislocation or tissue damage takes place.
