Favorite Jiu Jitsu Techniques

Everyone has their own favorite Jiu Jitsu Techniques but personally I like everything that is really simple and really effective.  For me, it is primarily a Self Defense Art and for anything to be effective in self defense, it has to be simple – that’s a fact.

In a high stress situation it is impossible for most people to carry out fine motor skills or complex movements so it makes even more sense for our skills to remain simple. The reaction on the body in a Self Defense situation is complex enough so there is no need to complicate the situation further in your reaction.

Different people will have different moves that suit them better due to their build, strength, fitness etc and will develop their own favorite jiu jitsu techniques.

People tend to like what they are good at and it is much easier to learn, practice and master a bunch of simple moves, so simple that you can make them become virtually an automated response to a given situation when practiced enough.

It is always nice to see fancy skills being performed in a sporting arena but they are not always the most sensible options when faced in a survival situation. A situation when your are overcome by fear and trying to prevent panic from setting in.

You may even find that you create different favorite jiu jitsu techniques for different situations.

What are your favorite jiu jitsu techniques?
